CORE, Version 3.0 CORE 24 - Quality Improvement Projects: Consumer Organizations
The Basics
This standard applies only to organizations that interact with consumers. For such organizations, at least one of the two quality improvement projects described in previous pages must address consumer safety. In addition, if the quality improvement project is clinical, it must be documented that a senior clinical staff person has been involved in the clinical aspects of the project.
Management Tips
Make sure that your documentation shows the involvement of the senior clinician overseeing clinical aspects the project. In addition, that senior clinician is likely to be interviewed during the on-site review, so make sure he or she is fully prepared for such an interview.
URAC Accreditation Tips
Both elements of the standard are mandatory.
The only documentation you need for the desktop review is quality improvement project descriptions for the two projects.
During the on-site review, the reviewer will examine the supporting documentation for each of the quality improvement projects. He/she also will interview the senior clinician involved in the projects.
