The Basics

This standard requires that the oversight of the organization's DTM program is performed by a pharmacist.  It also requires that your DTM program services be delivered by pharmacists and other qualified clinicians with experience in DTM programs.

Management Tips

In addition to making sure that the job descriptions of the DTM program's clinicians require experience and expertise in DTM program service delivery, you should make sure that the DTM program description echoes those requirements.  Both the job description and the program description should be explicit about licensure requirements.

URAC Accreditation Tips

This is a mandatory standard.

Documents required for the desktop review include the program description and sample job descriptions of the pharmacist overseeing the program and all other clinicians involved in service delivery.

The on-site reviewer will, in the course of conducting the examination of the personnel files of the program's clinicians, will look for verification of compliance with this standard.  In addition, interviews with clinical staff will address the clinicians' qualifications.
