The Basics
This simple standard requires that your organization have a senior clinical staff person who oversees the clinical aspects of your credentialing program. While the senior clinical staff person need not oversee the day-to-day operations of the credentialing program, he/she must nevertheless retain responsibility over the program.
URAC Accreditation Tips
The standard carries the weight of 4.
For the desktop review, you should submit some combination of the following documents:
- the senior clinical staff person's job description
- official company documents describing the oversight role of the senior clinical staff person
- an organizational chart of the credentialing program
- one or two simple copies of credentialing committee meeting minutes demonstrating the participation of the senior clinical staff person.
During the on-site review, the reviewer will interview both the senior clinical staff person charged with oversight of the credentialing program and credentialing staff members. In addition, the reviewer will examine personnel files and committee meeting minutes.
