See below for an excerpt of our Q2 2023 newsletter article:

In May-June 2023, IHS conducted a survey among 34 specialty pharmacies, receiving 17 responses. The purpose of the survey was to gather insights on the structure, roles, and lessons learned in specialty pharmacy accreditation project management. The survey consisted of nine questions.

The findings revealed that specialty pharmacies' lead accreditation project managers dedicate varying amounts of time to accreditation projects. In the six months preceding initial or re-accreditation, these managers spend between 7 and 45 hours per week, with an average of 25.6 hours. For maintaining accreditations (all but the six months prior to re-accreditation), they allocate 2 to 40 hours per week, averaging at 16.2 hours (Figure 1).

While this survey focused on specialty pharmacies, IHS anticipates that the time spent on accreditation project management is likely similar for other organizations with URAC accreditation, considering the similarities in accreditation requirements.
